All About Dental Braces

Braces involve a system of brackets and archwires to shift the teeth into place and align the bite. As a fixed orthodontic appliance, your braces are bonded to your teeth and stay in place throughout the process. At Foundations Orthodontics, we do braces treatment a little differently. We don’t just focus on moving the teeth to give you cosmetic benefits, we also ensure the upper and lower teeth fit together properly and your jaw is aligned, creating harmony between the teeth, jaw joints, and chewing muscles. This ensures you’ll get a lifetime of amazing oral health, comfort, and confidence. How Do Braces Work?

We bond your braces brackets to your teeth and then thread archwires through the brackets. The archwires act as a track to guide your teeth into place. Your appliance will exert steady, gentle pressure that stimulates a natural process known as bone remodeling. The bone breaks down (don’t worry, it’s completely painless!) and the supporting ligaments loosen, allowing the teeth to move where we direct them. Eventually, new bone forms and the ligaments tighten back up, securing your teeth in their new places.

We may pair your braces with auxiliaries like rubber bands or other appliances to align the upper and lower arches so your teeth fit together properly. By creating an ideal bite, we also improve the function of the jaw joints and muscles. As our Denver braces patients can attest, at Foundations Orthodontics, we balance aesthetics, function, and health for the best results.

Modern Braces for Adults, Teens, and Kids

Today’s braces are nothing like the bulky, unwieldy braces of the past. Both our metal braces and ceramic braces brackets are smaller, smoother, and less noticeable than ever before. That means, you can get straighter teeth and a healthier bite and look good doing it! We pair our braces brackets with thin, lightweight, heat-activated archwires that rely on your body heat to shift the teeth into place more quickly and comfortably.
