How Often Do I Need To Visit Dr. Moran During Braces Treatment?

Orthodontic treatment is more efficient and convenient than ever before. Most of our Denver braces patients come to see us every 6 to 8 weeks but in our office, treatment is customized for each patient so appointment intervals may vary according to the situation.

How Long Do Braces Take?

Our average patient wears their braces for approximately 18-24 months. The length of time spent in braces depends on your age, the severity of the problem, your cooperation, and the degree of movement possible.

Am I Too Old For Braces?

Of course not! While adult’s teeth sometimes move a little slower than children’s teeth, you are never too old to benefit from bite correction orthodontics. In fact, almost 40% of our practice is devoted to adult care. We have several patients in their 70’s and even 80’s!

At What Age Should I Bring My Child To The Orthodontist?

The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that your child be evaluated at or before age 7. Early detection of some orthodontic problems is important in order to take early corrective action and avoid more difficult treatment later. As a holistic orthodontist and bite correction expert, Dr. Moran or Dr. White takes a preventative approach. This means, when treating children, she considers the preventative impact of orthodontic treatment on the development of a child’s face, jaws, teeth, cheeks, and airway. We always treat children conservatively and only recommend early orthodontic treatment, also known as phase 1 orthodontic treatment, in cases where there are very clear, health-based reasons.

Do Braces Hurt?

You should never feel any real braces pain during your treatment. We use advanced braces brackets and archwires to increase efficiency and decrease discomfort. That being said, when you first get your braces put on, and sometimes following adjustments, your teeth and jaw might feel a little bit tender. This discomfort is generally mild and will go away in a few days. To help alleviate it, try sticking to soft foods, as well as cold foods and drinks. You can also take an over-the-counter pain reliever (whatever you’d normally take for a headache) if needed.

How Much Do Braces Cost?

The braces cost varies by patient and depends on a number of factors, including the complexity of your case. After Dr. Moran or Dr. White has completed her exam and evaluated your diagnostic records, she’ll develop a personalized treatment plan. Then, our Treatment Coordinator will be able to provide you with your braces price. We can file claims with your insurance company, which may reduce your out-of-pocket costs. We can also work with your HSA or FSA. Additionally, to make our braces affordable for all of our patients, we offer flexible financing options and our pricing is all-inclusive, meaning there are no extra fees or unwanted surprises.

How Often Do I Need To Brush My Teeth With Braces?

Brush your teeth with braces in the morning, after meals and snacks, and before bed. Be sure to floss with braces once daily as well. If you’re out and about and forget to bring your toothbrush along, rinse your mouth out really well with water after eating, and brush your teeth when you get home.

DO I STILL NEED TO SEE MY GENERAL DENTIST DURING BRACES TREATMENT?

Yes. Regular visits to your general dentist are actually more important than ever when you have braces since the brackets and wires can trap food and plaque, making you more susceptible to cavities. During routine dental cleanings and exams, your dentist will be able to help keep your teeth and gums healthy.
